Creel Consulting, LLC
Where Experience Counts
Creel Consulting specializes in server and client
applications for the Windows operating system. Most projects are
currently developed using the Microsoft .Net programming environment,
although with 25 years history, we have developed for many different
systems.Tax SoftwareWe developed software for American Technology Solutions to transmit Social Security W2 tax data directly to the Social Security Administration from a Client's database . (C#, .Net, MySQL) OFX ServerWe developed a server for American Technology Solutions for processing the financial industry standard OFX to allow client W2 tax data to be automatically downloaded into TurboTax®. (C#, .Net Web Services, MySQL) Trucking SoftwareWe developed a handheld computer scanner for Cadec Corporation which allows a truck driver to scan barcodes of delivered packages; present a manifest / invoice; collect a signature and print a receipt. The handheld communicated with another computer onboard the truck which in turn communicated with the head office. (Windows CE, Pocket PC, C++, Bluetooth). Financial ConsultingWe provided consulting and due diligence analysis of a Canadian software company being purchased by a major New York financial trading company. We also provided technical and management consultation to assist integrating the purchased company into the rest of the operations. Brokerage Server SystemWe were a subcontractor for a custom OFX server system for Ameritrade in Omaha. This system provided an industry standard OFX interface to the Ameritrade backend system. This multi-million dollar project was implemented as a distributed system of 11 multi-processor server machines using SQL Server as the database. (Windows Server 2000, C++, SQL Server) Brokerage Client SystemWe were a subcontractor for a state of the art application for Ameritrade that could initiate electronic trades for stocks and options and process the order delivery and confirmation. (Windows 2000, C++, OFX, SQL Server) Brokerage Client ApplicationWe were a subcontractor for a major client application for Fidelity in Boston. This application allowed professional money managers to make electronic trades on multiple accounts under their management. This included block orders and allocations and automatic reallocation of securities in accounts to fit various model portfolios. (Windows XP, C++, SQL Server) Other Brokerage ProjectsWe provided project management services and technical consultation for OFX server projects for several Wall Street clients. (Windows 2000 Server, C++, OFX, SQL Server) Credit Card ProcessingWe developed a very reliable and secure communications subsystem for Appropriate Solutions of Peterborough, NH for use in their credit card processing system. (Windows 2000, C++) Banking TransactionsWe provided a number of subsystems for Politzer and Haney of Cambridge, MA which were used in their application for ultra-secure communications of banking transactions. (Windows 2000 Server, COM, C++) Terminal EmulationWe wrote terminal emulation software for Clearview Software of Amherst, NH for use in their CoStar® product. (Windows 2000, C++) Financial AnalysisWe developed a client / server application for Disclosure, Inc. of Bethesda, MD to provide analysis of the financial data for over 15,000 public companies organized by sectors and groups. This included the development of a very high performance proprietary hierarchal database subsystem. (Windows 2000, C++) Pattern Recognition AnalysisWe developed a pattern recognition system for Media General Financial Services of Richmond, VA. This system extracted financial data (balance sheet and income statement) from reports in free form text . This project required us to do extensive research into methods of recognizing and validating data in these SEC reports. Our proprietary pattern recognition was quite successful and allowed Media General to process this data much faster than their previous manual methods. (Windows 2000, C, VB) Wireless MessagingWe developed a prototype system for Mtel / Skytel of Jackson, MS that permitted text messages to be sent and received by pager. The limited bandwidth of the pager network required us to invent a proprietary compression algorithm that resulted in compression ratios of up to 40 to 1 for common text messages. This was well before the modern usage of cell phones and text messaging. This innovative product was featured in PC Magazine. (DOS, C) Financial ScreeningWe fixed problems and added enhancements to the Insight® program for Media General Financial Services of Richmond, VA. This effort produced a new and improved version of the application after we fixed a number of problems and added many new features, including graphical analysis. (DOS, Basic, C) Financial DataWe provided consolidated subscription data for fundamental and technical analysis of over 15,000 stocks. Data from multiple sources were processed to a standard format. Raw data provided on tape by Disclosure, Inc. and Standard & Poors was processed monthly to provide clean, consistent data compatible with stock screening programs. (FORTRAN, DecSystem-20, TOPS-20) Data from Ford Investor Services was processed to the same compatible format. (FORTRAN, DEC VAX, VMS) Price data from Warner Computer Systems was processed and delivered by modem in a form compatible with investment programs. (FORTRAN, Xerox Computer System) Database EngineWe developed a proprietary database engine that permitted data on up to 15,000 stocks to be quickly searched and accessed with minimal RAM memory usage. This was during the early time where a well equipped PC had 128K of RAM. This was written entirely in assembly language. TopVest™We developed a high performance stock market analysis system for stock brokers and sophisticated investors. This application provided fundamental and technical analysis in both report and graphical form. The application was highly programmable using a built-in basic like language that allowed professional investors to program their own analytical methods into TopVest for automatic trades. This product won the Canadian "Software of the Year" award. (DOS, C, Basic, Assembly) Savant Investor Series™We were a pioneer in the use of personal computers for investment analysis. We produced the first fully integrated system for technical analysis, fundamental analysis and portfolio management on the IBM PC. This application was declared "The Cadillac of Investment Software" by the New York Times. (DOS, C, Basic, Assembly)
